96. A Peaceful Kind Of Soldier

7th April 2014, Forge & Co, Shoreditch, London

I have never had soldiers and eggs. Being a British breakfast staple, it was time I gave it a try.

So I realise it's basically just eggs and toast. But the name is funny and it looks much more interesting to eat than just plain regular eggs and toast. Kind of like when you cut apples into boats and carrots into pennies to get kids to eat them. It's me and those kids again evidentially.

This way of eating eggs is simply ingenious. And I swear, just like triangular peanut better and jelly sandwiches are better than rectangular ones - soldiers and eggs are better than ordinary toast and eggs. It is not the same.

I have also learned that the egg is apparently supposed to be Humpty Dumpty and the soldiers are All The King's Men. Get it? They can't put him together again? This breakfast has so much depth - educational, entertaining and delicious.

I will never look at Humpty Dumpty the same again.

Very posh eggs and soldiers

Must be the best way to have your eggs.
